Poppy now on etsy.com!

For today's not-so-lazy Sunday afternoon, I printed the 3 little dudes that my (now) husband designed for me a while ago. I think they were originally squished onto the very first run of plates I had made, but haven't had much time to print them. Today I printed them in a little under 3 hours (a bit longer than planned, due to a couple of makeready issues). I'm getting pretty quick at changing colours on the press now.

What makes this card design so exciting for me is that they are my first item listed for sale in my new etsy shop! Check it out here. Tomorrow I'm printing the galah design that I had plates made for in January, so the dudes won't be sitting on etsy on their own for too long.

New business cards

Hopefully our wedding photographer, Fusion Photography (check them out), got some great pics of the paper items from the day. Until I see them, I'll hold off posting my photos of the items. They just won't look as good as they did on the tables on the day.

In the meantime, I've finally been able to print some business cards for Poppy. A 3 week break from the press somehow meant that plates weren't inking up properly anymore. The rollers were stored in their box in a dark dry place, press was cleaned down and oiled before use. Still not sure what was going on, but it's magically working again, so I'll stop asking questions.
I'm glad it's working again because I really needed these cards. In a few days I'll be heading to Sydney to meet a design studio to discuss a couple of projects that sound right up my alley.

Back to life!

Well! The wedding was the most beautiful success and the honeymoon was fantastic. Hard to believe it's all over!

The letterpressed items were a hit on the day, and most things were taken away by the guests as momentos of the occasion. It all came together perfectly and made the day even more special. I can't imagine having standard wedding invites, booklets and placecards now. I still need to get things organised as we've only just got home, but I'll be posting photos of the final wedding items soon.

Having time to relax during the honeymoon meant that I have a whole lot of fresh new ideas for Poppy Letterpress, and can't wait to get them all started. With all the plates I had made up for the final wedding pieces, I also included a few illustrated pieces and business card designs to print. First up will be my business cards, which I'm itching to get done (with my new married name, too!).

BUT. I have a fair bit of press maintainence to do now. While we were away, we had some rain at home and the moist air has given Collie a nice coating of rust in some areas. Also, just as we were printing the last of the wedding pieces, we noticed that Collie is actually not sitting perfectly flat now. So I need to get the spirit level out and put some wedges under the 800kg weight of the press before printing starts again.

I'm looking forward to posting up new pieces over the next fews days though, so stay tuned!

Honeymoon!

Hello dear blog-readers!

I did plan to post before the wedding to let you all know that I would be absent for a couple of weeks, but busy wedding plans prevented it.

I'm currently in beautiful Fiji on our honeymoon. The wedding was the most wonderful day of my life and everything went smoothly. The letterpressed items were a hit, especially the Order of Service booklets. Will post photos on my return in a little over a week.

MICHAEL - I just received your comment. Yes, I can definitly help you. I can call you when I return on 19 Feb, or feel free to email me at poppyletterpress [at] gmail [dot] com before then. I have email here in Fiji.

Hoping everyone is well, and I look forward to catching up on all the letterpress blog goodness on my return.

xx.
